The Manito Art League is dedicated to the development and appreciation of the visual, creative and performing arts by means of demonstrations, exhibits and financial scholarships. Donations from our patrons are devoted primarily to scholarships.

2012 Manito Workshops

The Manito Art League offers monthly workshops from May through October. They are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. (Free to Members and $10 for non-members.)
They include programs offered by members and guest artists and cover a wide variety of interests.
We meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Manitowish Waters Community Center on Hwy 51 at 11:00 to 3:30. (Bring a lunch if you want!)

Workshop May 9, 2012 - "Altered Books"

Sue Wendlant led a wonderful workshop on making "Altered Books".  Here are some of the attendees and their artwork!

 
Linda Kiesgen decided to altered her books to into a decorative light stand by applying birch bark to the cover and well and using a variety of techniques to altered the decorative pages inside the book.

Jo Duller working on her altered book.  Jo experimented with a variety of techniques such as using transparent watercolor paints, collage and sewing pages to altered her book pages.

 
Rosemary Ahmann tapes her altered book to help block the paint while creating a painted design onto her altered book page.

2011 Art Show

The show was amazing! Well over 1250 people attended. We had 97 artists displaying 242 pieces of art!
Winners included Christine Alfery receiving Best in Show for Summer Grasses' and Ken Drawz receiving the Patrons Preview Party award for 'Great Hoo'.

We had a great workshop this past week with Sandy. Everyone was very successful in completing beautiful baskets to take home. Our 'Thanks' to Sandy and her daughter who helped us each step of the way!!
